It's new and improved
ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulbs were designed to replicate the comfortable ‘warm white" colour that we have grown accustomed to seeing in our homes. You may have come across energy efficient light bulbs in the past and were deterred from using them in your home because of their awkward size and the unsightly ‘cold blue' colour they created - similar to what we're used to seeing in offices, schools and hospitals. The technology behind energy efficient light bulbs has improved tremendously in recent years allowing us to lead more sustainable lifestyles without having to impair our quality of life. ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulbs were developed to fit comfortably into almost all light fittings and give the same colour and quality of light as regular light bulbs.
Regular bulbs create light inefficiently through the use of heat increasing our room temperatures which then leads to an even greater waste of energy in trying to keep our homes cool (through the use of more air conditioning). Basically, all these years we have been using tiny heaters to create light - this is the epitome of inefficiency and irresponsible energy usage. If that's not bad enough, the unnecessary amount of energy we currently use for lighting causes an increase in carbon emissions which speeds up climate change.
ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulbs consume less than a quarter of the power (22% to be exact) compared to regular incandescent bulbs to give out the same amount of light. They also last 10 times longer and give off 70% less heat on average. They are so much more efficient because they use a completely different method to create light. The glass tube has a mixture of gases inside it and once electrons flow through the gases, the mercury atoms become excited and give off ultraviolet photons (invisible light). As these photons bounce off the white phosphor coating on the inside of the tube, visible light is created. Although it sounds complicated, the technology is actually quite simple. The increased efficiency comes from the fact that the energy required for the reaction is far lower than the amount required for a regular bulb to heat up the filament.
Whilst the upfront cost of energy efficient light bulbs can be slightly higher than traditional bulbs, basic economics can show you how the purchase price of an ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulb is completely offset by electricity cost savings in less than 3 months. By the end of the first year, each ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulb would have paid for itself four times over while by the end of the bulb's useful life; you would have accumulated a profit of AED 94 per bulb. Equally as important is that because of its more efficient use of energy, each ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulb prevents 280kg of carbon emissions over its lifetime
Our message is simple; switching to ILLUME Energy Efficient Bulbs is the smart choice for a more sustainable lifestyle.
